This is why you should always do research first – to save yourself having to write grovelling comments after the fact.
Having blithely written that ‘The Blair Years’ must be about Tony Blair, I googled the book and found out that Alastair Campbell was more than a journalist writing about Blair. He was, in fact, first of all Blair’s press secretary and then his official spokesman and head of communications and strategy from 1994-2003.
‘The Blair Years’ is based on Alastair Campbell’s daily dairies from that period tracks the rise of the new Labour Party and Blair’s years of leadership.
So there you have it, in a nutshell. I don’t know what it’s like, but if it’s anything like the quality of ‘All in the Mind’, it will be a well-written and readable book.
I’ll try to remember in future to research first, write later.
